Job Description Salary: 25.64-32.71 USD Facility: Kenmore Mercy Hospital Shift: Shift 2 Status: Full Time FTE: 1.000000 Bargaining Unit: CWA Local 1133 Exempt from Overtime: Exempt: No Work Schedule: Days and Evenings Hours: 11:00am to 7:00pm Summary: The Licensed practical nurse (LPN) in the discharge lounge is responsible for oversight of patients who have been transitioned from acute care and are currently awaiting transportation to their post hospital location. The LPN in this role is responsible for monitoring these patients, providing assistance with ADLs, administering needed medications, documentation and communication with patients and caregivers as well as the multidisciplinary care team under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). When not assigned to the discharge lounge, the LPN will perform admission histories (with the exception of physical assessment of the patient), discharges including review of discharge instructions, and other duties as directed by the Administrative Nursing Supervisor. Responsibilities: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE * Graduate from an accredited School of Practical Nursing * Currently licensed and registered as a Practical Nurse in New York State * CPR validation and recertification in accordance to AHA standards KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY * Mental and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position * Finger and hand dexterity to manipulate instruments and equipment * Ability to withstand some strenuous physical activity and stress
