Phlebotomist

Job Title: Phlebotomist Job Description We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at a large medical center office. The ideal candidate will perform between 30 to 60 blood draws daily, primarily in a pediatric setting. This role requires standing for most of the shift and involves collaborating with a dedicated team. The first week will be dedicated to training and orientation. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens as required. + Record maintenance data and decontaminate equipment as necessary. + Update patient information and ensure specimens are collected and stored according to established procedures. + Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients. + Demonstrate proper technique using straight and butterfly needles. + Understand and follow all physicians' orders accurately. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and label centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required. + Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy. + Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures. + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings. + Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results to inquiries. Essential Skills + Experience with pediatric phlebotomy, with at least 2+ years in pediatric blood draws. + High School Diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Strong skills in specimen collection and processing. Work Environment The work environment is a large medical center office, where you will be part of a team. The role requires standing for most of the shift and involves working in a pediatric setting. The dress code is professional medical attire. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Austin, Texas. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
