Pharmacy Technician

Job Title: Pharmacy Technician Job Description The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for accurately and efficiently filling prescriptions using the Pyxis automated dispensing system. This role supports pharmacists in ensuring safe medication distribution, maintaining inventory levels, and adhering to regulatory and hospital protocols. Responsibilities + Operate the Pyxis machine to dispense medications for inpatient and outpatient needs. + Accurately fill, label, and restock medications in accordance with prescriptions and physician orders. + Monitor Pyxis inventory and perform routine audits to ensure compliance and availability. + Collaborate with pharmacists and nursing staff to resolve medication-related issues. + Maintain accurate records of dispensed medications and controlled substances. + Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures. Essential Skills + Proficiency in pharmacy operations and medication fulfillment. + Active IL Pharmacy Technician certification/license. + Experience in data entry and order fulfillment in a pharmacy environment. + Knowledge of specialty pharmacy and long-term care (LTC) pharmacy operations. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Minimum of 1 year experience in order entry/fulfillment from a specialty or LTC pharmacy environment. + Registered Pharmacy Technician with the state of IL. + Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED. + Experience with Framework software is preferred. Work Environment The work schedule includes a variety of shifts: 1st shift from 8:30 am-4 pm or 9 am-5 pm Monday to Friday with rotating weekends, 2nd shift from 3 pm-11:30 pm Monday to Friday with rotating weekends, and an overnight shift from 10 pm-8:30 am or 10:30 pm-9 am Monday to Friday with rotating weekends. Overnight shifts offer an additional $1 shift differential. Start times can be flexible. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Des Plaines, Illinois. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
