The role of a Lead Interventional Radiology and Lockport Procedure Suite Nurse is essential to the care of the patient and smooth operation of the Interventional environment. The Lead Nurse is one that provides guidance and direction to the Lockport Procedure Suite clinical staff, and is responsible for coordination of patient care, troubleshooting of problem areas and the daily operations of the professional team which includes physicians, nurses, medical assistants, radiography technologists (RT(R)s) and other staff as appropriate. Responsibilities Lead day to day nursing activities. * Responsible for setting daily nurse assignments and coordination with Interventional Radiology Lead Technologist to ensure coverage. * Oversees the staffing of procedure rooms. * Ensures rooms are turned over efficiently and teamwork is carried out effectively. * Oversees nursing inventory supplies and ordering of controlled substances. * Works closely with Pharmacy and EPIC on a routine basis to address concerns. Assists with staff development. * Trains and orients all new hires, including guidance of administration of controlled substances in an outpatient setting. * Conducts on the job training and assists in quarterly educational in-services. * Monitors and ensures staff compliance with policies and procedures. * Identifies opportunities for innovation and quality improvement; participates in process improvement projects and supports quality improvement efforts. * Oversees AAAASF accreditation standards are met and upheld within the suite. * Attend monthly leadership meetings and work closely with physician leadership. Performs day to day Interventional Nurse duties. * Assists in patient consultations under the guidance of the Interventional Radiologist. * Escort patients to and from exam rooms and readies them for procedure; takes vital signs, records medical history/symptoms, ensures medical chart/lab test results are available and complete. * Acts as a liaison between the patient, nursing staff, radiology staff, ancillary departments and referring physician. * Communicates patient progress to the medical staff and the Interventional Radiologist. * Assists Interventional Radiologists, Interventional Cardiologists, Vascular surgeons, and Pain Management physicians in procedures performed at Lockport Procedure Suite. * Oversees and manages the daily procedure schedules for the following specialties: Interventional Radiology, Interventional Cardiology, Vascular Surgery and Pain Management. * Works closely with leadership and escalates concerns as necessary. Completes necessary medical documentation and patient follow up. * Orchestrate patient discharge and pharmacy calls; may assist by calling to set up appointments or arrange hospital tests or admissions. * Completes paperwork and EMR documentation, including submission of Laboratory orders, Radiology orders, prescription refills etc. * Performing pre, intra, and post procedure patient evaluation, assessment and documentation. Qualifications EDUCATION and / or CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: * Licensed to practice nursing in Illinois. * BLS * ACLS * Minimum Associate's Degreem(Preferred Bachelor's Degree or Above) EXPERIENCE: * Minimum 3 years of interventional nursing experience in one of the following specialties: Interventional Radiology, Cardiology, Vascular Surgery, or Pain Management The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $32.67-49.00 with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
