With a shared focus on all four areas, the CFO will help: a) strengthen SGH as a company; b) improve performance across the portfolio; c) play a key role in capital deployment and deal structuring; and d) support Sam as a better owner.Leadership ExpectationsThe CFO should engage with existing management to quickly earn trust and cooperation, serving as a spirited leader who embodies SGH’s core values. The role requires assimilation into SGH’s culture, immediate support to a capable team, urgency, execution, confidence, competitiveness, and resiliency. The candidate should be grounded in intellectual honesty, self-awareness, and humility.ScopeReporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will manage all aspects of financial accounting, analysis, and reporting as a member of the senior leadership team responsible for strategy and profitable growth. The role delivers insights, processes, reporting, metrics, and disciplined control to drive margin improvement and will provide leadership in corporate and operational financial functions including financial and operational control, business integration, capital formation, planning, forecasting and analysis, cash flow, treasury, audit, taxes, information systems, investments, and corporate development. The CFO will be a key contributor to growing EBITDA and enterprise value.ApproachAs a key member of the executive team, the CFO will lead as a “player/coach” with an entrepreneurial, hands-on approach. The role blends SGH collaboration with operational activities such as financial modeling, forecasting, and profitability analysis. The candidate will have an operational orientation and drive results with lean resources, optimizing exit value. The CFO will partner with the CEO, management teams, SGH, auditors, lenders, and legal counsel.High Performance TeamThe role involves developing and driving a high-performance financial team across the organization and portfolio, creating a culture of service, passion, competitiveness, and accountability, building upon SGH’s cultural pillars.Margin & Operational PerformanceThe CFO will optimize EBITDA margins, participate in strategic pricing, identify cost-out opportunities, and reorganize SG&A to support scaling across the portfolio. The role leads continuous operational improvement and implements best-in-class processes, systems, and tools with a hands-on, detail-oriented approach. The CFO will help meet quarterly and annual EBITDA targets and growth plans while increasing enterprise value.Capital Deployment & Deal StructuringThe CFO will collaborate with SGH management to acquire and structure new portfolio investments, present SGH as an ideal buyer, lead financial due diligence, and integrate new investments into SGH’s governance and value-creation framework.Acquisition IntegrationThe CFO will help portfolio companies integrate accretive add-on acquisitions and participate in diligence processes.Stakeholder RelationshipsThe CFO will be a trusted partner to SGH and lenders, providing proactive, detailed insight into results, projections, and opportunities. They will translate financial results into compelling narratives to drive informed decision making.Professional QualificationsExperience: 20+ yearsIdeal BackgroundThe ideal candidate is most likely to come from:a proven CFO of a private equity-backed companyan operating executive within a private equity firma senior-level corporate development role with operational finance experienceEarlier CareerWe seek a well-rounded career foundation that may include roles at blue-chip companies in Operational Finance, FP&A, and Corporate Development.Sector ExperienceOpen to candidates from various sectors. Prior experience in logistics, business services, energy, technology, financial services, or manufacturing may be a plus but is not required.M&A & Corporate DevelopmentSolid integration experience with a history of optimizing multiple arbitrage and post-integration synergies is preferred; prior corporate development tenure may be a plus but is not required.Financial CapabilitiesRequires a well-rounded financial toolkit with emphasis on forward-looking FP&A to drive value in a fast-growing company.CapabilitiesDemonstrates an operational, general management mindset and the ability to partner with CEOs, management teams, and family office leadership to grow a business and increase shareholder value.Strategic SituationsTrack record of driving profitable topline growth and margin improvement through periods of change.
