Position Type: Substitute/Substitute TeacherDate Posted: 2/10/2025Location: iLearn SchoolsDate Available: 08/11/2025Permanent Substitute Job DescriptionPosition Title: Permanent Substitute Summary:The substitute teacher will assume professional responsibility for providing learning experiences and supervision of students in a supportive and positive classroom environment.Qualifications:New Jersey County Substitute Credentials. Minimum of 60 hours of college classwork. Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary. The ability to think and be original. Knowledge of child growth and development; individual differences in ability, personality and interests and learning/motivational techniques. Demonstrate working knowledge of the use of various technological software and equipment. Possess a valid driver's license preferred. Prior to employment, the following must be addressed: Required to complete a criminal history background check to prove that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person's offense in accordance with N.J.S.A 18A:6-7.1. Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.2. Pass the state required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.3. Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the school director find appropriate and acceptable. Requirements/ Environmental Conditions:The physical demands and work environment factors described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects or materials. Requires the ability to work in noisy and crowded environment. Occasional exposure to a variety of weather conditions. May require stooping, bending, or reaching. Occasionally requires work outdoors dealing with school activities. Performance Responsibilities:The substitute teacher shall : Pursue the vision and execute the mission of iLearn Schools Inc. Help foster and maintain an effective and caring learning climate in the classroom. Manage the classroom in accordance with New Jersey school law, charter school policies and school procedures. Serve as a role model for students, demonstrating the importance and relevance of learning, accepting responsibility and demonstrating pride in the education profession. Discipline students in a fair and consistent manner using school approved procedures. Budget class time effectively. Be an active listener giving full attention to what others are saying, taking the time to understand the points being made and asking questions as appropriate. Report to the assistant director of operations or school receptionist upon arrival at the school. Communicate, collaborate and cooperate with administration, faculty and students. Maintain, as fully as possible, the established routines and procedures of the assigned class. Assume the responsibility of providing classroom instruction and student academic assistance. Plans needed activities when lesson plans do not structure the entire class periods with planned learning activities. Maintain appropriate records including checking homework and classwork, grading test papers and assigning homework. Take immediate action and notify appropriate personnel concerning any evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical or social conditions, potential suicide or individuals appearing to be under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances, or anabolic steroids. Follow school affirmative action procedures. Possess and understanding of the school emergency response plan. Communicate with the assistant director of operations/designee about any concerns within the classroom or with students assigned to the classroom. Perform any other duties within the scope of substitute teaching employment may be assigned. Reports to: Supervise: Assistant Director of Operations Students Terms of Employment:Ten Month Contract
