Job Title Student Accounts Representative Position Summary The Student Accounts Representative is responsible for providing customer support within the Student Accounts Office, performing duties with accuracy, independence, and discretion. Primary duties include managing student accounts by receipting payments and responding to student inquiries. This position is also responsible for processing financial aid refunds and overseeing official communications to students from the office. Must possess a high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task. May experience seasonally high volumes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Answer phones, emails, chats, and voicemails. * Assist students and parents with payments, questions, and other requests. * Provide excellent customer service. * Provide ad hoc reporting details to the manager and/or other departments. * Balance cashier drawer, complete closing procedures, and prepare daily deposits. * Create invoices for third-party billing. * Reconcile petty cash and submit receipts. * Run and create refunding reports. * Assist with accounts receivable analysis and collections. * Work with outside departments and entities to manage collection efforts and third-party billings. * Work in our database, Colleague and partnership vendor systems to maintain accuracy in invoicing, posting payments, running reports, and reviewing accounts. Education, Certifications and/or Licenses * Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. Experience * Two (2) years of related experience in general office work required. * Experience with Ellucian's ERP Colleague software preferred but not required. * Experience in higher education preferred, but not required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities * Proficient in Excel. * Excellent customer service skills. * Ability to exercise judgment and initiative in analyzing problems. * Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion. * Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures. * Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, correspondence, and memoranda. * Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. * Ability to interpret policy and procedures. * Ability to communicate effectively before groups of customers or University employees. * Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. * Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret graphs. * Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form. * Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. * Ability to investigate, analyze data, and draw conclusions.
