Benefits401(k) matchingDental insuranceHealth insuranceJob DescriptionTitle: Director of Student Life & AthleticsJob Type: Full time PositionReports to: Head of SchoolRequired: 3-5 years of experience in school environment, Bachelor’s degreePreferred: A Professional Educator License (PEL), Master’s degree in the field of counseling social work, sports administration or youth ministryWork Days/Hours: 7:30am-3:30pm Monday-Wednesday & Friday; Thursday 7:30am- 4:30pmPurpose StatementThe Student Support Services team provides students the support and interventions that they need to be successful socially, emotionally, behaviorally and academically. The team works together to problem solve and determine the best intervention necessary to meet the holistic needs of each student. Tier 1 social emotional and behavior interventions (see chart below) are primarily addressed and managed within the classroom by lead teachers. Below is how support services are implemented at Daystar:● Tier 2 and Tier 3 social emotional and behavior interventions for PYP students (see chart below) are addressed and managed by the Student Support Specialist and/or the Student Support Coordinator.● Tier 2 and Tier 3 social emotional interventions for MYP/DP students are addressed and managed by the Student Support Specialist and/or the Student Support Coordinator.● Tier 2 and Tier 3 behavior interventions for MYP/DP students (see chart below) are addressed and managed by the Director of Student Life.All Staff ResponsibilitiesProvide a safe school environment, indoors and out, per directives regarding building operations (keys, fobs, alarm codes), the Daystar Distinctives and Responsive Classroom practicesParticipate in a brief staff prayer to start the day at 7:35 sharp on Monday through Thursday in the Gathering PlaceParticipate in school engagement events to promote positive school cultureComplete arrival and dismissal duties as assignedFulfill essential job functions based on one’s specific job description; and during times of school drills or emergencies, assist others as ableBe on time, appropriately dressed and ready for work at assigned days/timesAdhere to all of the requirements outlined in the Staff Handbook and comply with the school policiesBe an excellent ambassador of Daystar Academy at all timesEssential Job Functions Relative to role as Director of Student LifeEngage and build rapport with all of the students within Daystar AcademyUphold student confidentiality and adhere to Daystar protocol and policiesComplete proper documentation when meeting with a studentProvide in-service and manage trainings that increases theoretical congruence and uniform practices related to restorative approach to ensure that an effective, “whole-school” approach is takenMonitor MYP/DP tracker and SSS referrals weekly and follow up with student and/or teacher accordinglyCoordinate behavioral support strategies to be implemented by the teaching teamCollaborate with the MYP/DP teaching team on effective strategies to implement within the classroomProvide assistance for teachers with students exhibiting behavioral concerns within the classroom either in the classroom or if students are removed from the classroom (Tier 2/Tier 3)Implement Daystar’s discipline policy (Tier 2 and Tier 3) for MYP/DP studentsRespond to all of the behavioral needs of MYP/DP students who are brought to the Support Services Office and are in need of supportCommunicate with parents and attend parent meetings as needed, this includes Reconciliation meetings for discipline municate and/or meet with parents for serious behavioral, academic or SEL concerns.Monitor Bark alerts in collaboration with the SEL Student Support Coordinator and follow up with students and/or parents within 8 hours of notification (Bark is the internet safety program used for all of Daystar students)Develop and implement post secondary programming and support for Daystar High SchoolWrite letters of recommendation for studentsCreate monthly newsletters about post secondary planningCollaborate with the IB MYP/DP Coordinator on post secondary administrative tasks (i.e. Maia Learning administration, college application, transcripts and student/family/teacher questionnaires)Coordinates all after school extracurricular activities and programs, including hiring and supervising staffProvide vision and insight for high school culture through extracurricular activities, events and activitiesAct as liaison between middle school and high school to increase Daystar middle school enrollmentReview new MS & HS student applicantsAttend at least one MYP/DP team meeting each weekAttend weekly team SSS meetingsCollaborate with teaching teams and attend collaborative meetings as neededAttend professional development training throughout school yearAll other duties as assigned by the Head of SchoolEssential Job Functions Relative to role as Director of AthleticsOversees and manages the entire athletic program and department to ensure quality competition and sportsmanship for and in athletesAssists the Head of School and HR Program Manager with recruitment and hiring of coaches and athletic staffSchedules and facilitates all athletic contests, which may include recruiting and arranging medical, safety, and other support staff; coordinating use of athletic facilities; and completing and maintaining contracts and similar documentationArranges transportation to and from all away athletic contestsOversees ticket sales and financial accounting for the athletic programManages insurance coverage for the athletic program; ensures that claims are filed accurately and in a timely mannerOrganizes required medical examinations for students and staffMaintains excellent working relationships with athletic booster groups; when necessary, helps with the creation of new or additional support groups for specific teams and eventsCoordinates with appropriate Daystar staff to ensure coverage of athletic events and recognition of athletes and coachesEnsures that the school is compliant with IHSA regulations and other accredited affiliationsFamiliar with the Crisis Manual and ensures compliance with its expectations, works with HR Manager to get all coaches trained and onboarded successfullyIn partnership with the Director of Human Resources, creates job descriptions for Athletic Coaches and reviews resumes, applications and conducts interviewsActs as official IHSAA representativeCollects and coordinates sports physicalsPerforms other related duties as assignedEssential Functions Relative to Member of Daystar’s Administrative TeamProvide reports to the Daystar Board as requestedServe on schoolwide committees as requestedParticipate in and assist with planning and implementation of staff wide professional developmentParticipate in regular Administrative Team meetings, providing counsel and insight on areas impacting the school as a wholeParticipate in planning and management of schoolwide events including but not limited to back to school parent and student events, parent-teacher conferences, holiday programs, learning showcase nights, athletic banquets (lead), middle and high school special events, and 8th and 12th grade graduation ceremonies. #J-18808-Ljbffr
