OverviewSr. Software Engineer (Applications) role at AV. In a fast-moving, collaborative Agile development environment, one plans, designs, develops and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products including cloud-based or internet-related tools.Position ResponsibilitiesWorks within a defined software life cycle development processUnderstands the requirements and process. Participates in and leads software design reviewsCreates software design documentation according to software process requirementsImplements coding according to coding standards. Writes unit tests and validates software according to the process. Contributes to process improvement effortsDelivers work on time according to agreed completion dates and project schedule & budgetSupports and derives algorithm design from detailed software requirementsWorks closely with multiple teams of software developers reusing developed software to support different programsOperates in a continuous learning environment and provides guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineersDemonstrates methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (Team Lead)Other duties as assignedBasic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or Physics or equivalentMinimum 8 - 12 years of relevant experience in Windows or Linux application software development. Object Oriented Design experience requiredExpertise in one of the following: C# .NET, Java, C++, and/or Web UIExperienced writing unit tests and debugging codeExperienced with formal and structured lifecycle development processExperienced with Agile Software Development Process ManagementDemonstrated mathematical and analytical skillsFamiliar with source code configuration management tools such as SVN and Git and with IDEs and debuggersWillingness to travel locally (Occasionally)Other Qualifications & Desired CompetenciesAdvanced degree preferredExperience with Android, iOS, or React/Redux web developmentExperience with FitNesse test framework and/or UAS, drones, or roboticsUnderstanding of object-oriented design, data structures, databases, and operating systems; basic networking knowledge preferredGood judgment in selecting methods and techniques for solving problemsEffective listening, questioning, clarifying and summarizing skills for one-on-one and small group settingsUnderstanding of system design and how assigned tasks fit into the systemAbility to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and work in small teamsStrong initiative, ownership of work, and commitment to learning from mistakesEffective problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal and communication skillsEmphasizes teamwork and collaborationPhysical DemandsAbility to work in an office environment (Constant)Stand and sit for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and keyboard (Frequent)SalaryThe Salary Range For This Role Is $136,807 - $194,040ITAR/EAR RequirementThis position requires access to information subject to ITAR and/or EAR compliance.
