OverviewJOB TITLE: Chief Learning OfficerDays per Year: 226Min: $158,690Mid: $191,194REPORTS TO: Superintendent of SchoolsWAGE/HOUR STATUS: ExemptPAY GRADE: AM 11The Chief Learning Officer (CLO) is a visionary executive leader responsible for aligning the District’s academic strategy and campus leadership to ensure equitable, high-quality learning experiences for all students, providing seamless leadership across curriculum, instruction, talent development, school improvement, and student support systems.As a core member of the Superintendent’s Senior Leadership Team, the CLO drives districtwide learning excellence by leading the development, implementation, and continuous refinement of instructional programs, professional learning, and school leadership practices. This leader ensures that every school is led by strong principals, that every classroom delivers rigorous and relevant instruction, and that student outcomes drive all decisions.All employees are expected to act with integrity, support organizational goals, communicate clearly and respectfully, champion the needs of our students, and drive continuous improvement.Major Responsibilities and DutiesStrategic Leadership and OversightSet the District’s academic vision and learning goals in alignment with the Superintendent’s strategic plan and Board prioritiesOversee all instructional and campus leadership departments, including Curriculum and Instruction, Special Education, CTE, Fine Arts, and School LeadershipEnsure alignment and coherence across all academic initiatives, from early childhood to postsecondary readinessLead strategic planning processes for school improvement, principal development, and instructional innovationCollaborate with cabinet members to support integrated planning between academics, operations, student support services, and accountabilityInstructional Excellence and Program DevelopmentEnsure high-quality curriculum development, instructional materials adoption, and assessment systems across all grade levels and content areasMonitor instructional program effectiveness and lead the design and implementation of improvementsPromote workforce readiness by supporting the expansion and innovation of CTE, Fine Arts, and enrichment programsCollaborate with relevant departments to meet the needs of students with disabilities, English learners, and gifted and talented populationsCampus Leadership and School SupportSupervise and evaluate Assistant Superintendents of School LeadershipBuild systems of principal coaching, evaluation, and talent development aligned with District learning goalsEnsure that all campuses receive differentiated supports and interventions aligned with performance dataLead the identification, recruitment, and retention of high-impact school leadersEstablish structures that empower principals as instructional leaders while maintaining high standards of accountabilityData-Driven Decision-Making and AccountabilityCollaborate with the Chief of Innovation and Student Support Services to use data effectively for continuous improvementLead regular reviews of student achievement data, including disaggregation by student group, to guide program adjustments and interventionsMonitor campus performance metrics and ensure responsiveness to accountability ratings, state requirements, and strategic goalsChampion a culture of learning, innovation, and high expectations grounded in evidence and impactStakeholder Engagement and CommunicationServe as the Superintendent’s designee in communicating academic and school leadership priorities to internal and external audiencesBuild strong relationships with principals, teachers, families, and community partners to foster shared responsibility for student successEnsure effective two-way communication between central office departments and school campusesPromote public confidence in the District’s learning strategy and support board reporting related to academics and school performanceOperational and Financial StewardshipManage and align budgets related to curriculum, instruction, school leadership, and grant-funded initiatives (e.g., Perkins, Title I)Ensure effective use of human, financial, and material resources in support of academic prioritiesIdentify and pursue funding opportunities and partnerships that expand access to high-quality learning experiencesWorking ConditionsPhysical demands: The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require physical mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. This position also requires frequent travel within the district and occasional travel across the state.Mental demands: Ability to solve problems and manage high-stakes, fast-paced situations; ability to interpret diverse data sets and apply research-based practices; ability to manage competing priorities and apply leadership discretion under pressure; ability to maintain emotional control and professionalism under stress. Extended work hours may be required.The foregoing statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required.QualificationsRequired:Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field from an accredited institutionTexas Mid-Management, Principal, or Superintendent CertificationMinimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in K-12 education, including roles in both campus and central administrationDemonstrated success leading large-scale academic and leadership initiatives across multiple school levelsPreferred:Doctorate in Education or related fieldExperience in diverse, urban, or high-growth school districtsBilingual or multilingual proficiencySPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:Deep understanding of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and school leadership best practicesProven success in driving student achievement and closing opportunity gaps across diverse populationsAbility to manage complex systems and lead cross-functional teams toward a common instructional visionSkilled in using data to drive decisions, monitor progress, and ensure accountabilityStrong knowledge of state and federal education laws, including accountability systems (A–F ratings, ESSA, HB3)Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to develop leadership capacity across all levels of the organizationExperience managing large budgets and aligning resources to instructional prioritiesCollaborative leadership style that promotes shared ownership and continuous improvementDemonstrated success leading large-scale academic and leadership initiatives across multiple school levelsSalary RangeDays per Year: 226Min: $158,690Mid: $191,194How To ApplyHow To Apply: #J-18808-Ljbffr
