Job Description

The Chief Financial Officer position is accountable for the financial and risk management operations of the organization, which includes the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.Reporting directly to the President, the CFO will need exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders and to translate financial data into actionable insights.As Virginia’s home for public media, VPM connects nearly 2 million people across Central Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley to insightful programming in arts and culture, history, science, news and education. Learn more at and on Facebook, TikTok, Instagramand several channels on YouTube.Key Responsibilities :Assist in formulating the company’s future direction and supporting tactical initiativesManage the capital expenditures and budgeting processesDevelop performance measures that support the company’s strategic directionEnsure compliance with financial, regulatory and legal requirements and FCC reportingAct as the primary point of contact for all Investment-Related mattersLiaise with both VPM Board and Virginia Foundation For Public Media Board of DirectorsMonitor cash flow and the portfolio positionPrimary responsibility for annual auditsFull participation in pledge and other corporate needsQualifications :Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or BusinessMinimum 10 years of business management experienceStrong understanding of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and overall financial managementSignificant experience in the non-profit sector, with financial leadership responsibility for P&L of $25 million or moreProven ability to interact effectively with executive management and Board of DirectorsDemonstrated understanding of investmentsIn-depth knowledge of 501(c)(3) regulations and FCC rulesExperience with multiple-entity organization and diverse revenue streamsKnowledge of public media regulatory requirementsPreferred : Experience in a public media organization, member station, station group, or related board / partnership activitiesDRiWaterstone is assisting us with this search.
