Job DescriptionThe Intermediate Interior Designer’s role is to support and assist with all aspects of project management and coordination for the firm's design projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have a minimum 3 years of experience in residential interior design, focusing on high-end residential design. This is a full-time position. Our studio is located in the heart of a vibrant Mission Creek neighborhood with a close proximity to SF Design District. We are looking for a motivated self-starter, who is comfortable wearing many hats, to support our growing team. Responsibilities Developing overall design for projects under the direction of a Senior Designer and Principal. Developing design sketches, layouts and details under the direction of the Senior Designer. Drafting construction and concept documents. Reviewing engineering and other consultant drawings under supervision to ensure they comply with design intention. Assisting design and implementation of custom furniture and millwork. Sourcing FF&E and FF&A for projects. Maintain positive client relationships throughout the project. Keeping clients apprised of project progress on a regular basis. Initiate and maintain contact with other key project individuals for clarification, coordination and project development. Prepare specifications and schedules with accurate product information for all furniture, lighting and finishes. Assist at client meetings as requested. Track time daily and noting billable hours. Skills Degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related experience. Minimum of 3 years interior design experience. Studio Designer knowledge is a plus. Advanced knowledge of design principles and the ability to interpret design concepts and layouts, including commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the profession. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, materials application and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness. Excellent verbal & presentation skills, including space planning and drawing. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Sketch-Up. Ability to read a set of construction documents and section details. Ability to create and manage Excel / Google spreadsheets. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop. Knowledge of and / or ability to learn timekeeping and billing software. Design operations experience. Ability to interact effectively with the design team on multiple projects. Knowledge of trade resources and vendors. High level of attention to detail and follow-up. Self-starter with the ability to work productively and collaboratively with minimal supervision. Valid California driver’s license, access to automobile. Enjoy working with others, team player.
