Senior Mechanical Engineer

OverviewWe are seeking a driven and innovative Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of Rondo’s proprietary heat battery systems. In this role, you’ll design critical systems, components, and tooling that will enable the large-scale deployment of RHBs across global industrial processes.Your work will directly shape the systems that can replace fossil-fired boilers worldwide and contribute to one of the most significant industrial transformations in history.Join our team and together we can reduce world CO₂ emissions by 10% in 10 years, and by 15% in 15 years!What You Will DoConvert product requirements into technical specifications, develop conceptual and detailed designs along with necessary risk assessmentsPerform engineering analysis, prototyping and/or testing required to deliver robust and cost-effective solutions on the core technology as well as tooling and other equipment to support manufacturing, testing and other effortsLead multiple projects concurrently, managing timelines and budgetsDevelop scalable manufacturing processes and procedures; establish training and quality standardsDesign for high volume manufacturability and lower costPrepare specifications, working drawings, instructions and other related documentsSelect equipment with a focus on functionality, scalability, and cost-effectivenessCollaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and operations teams to drive real-time product developmentPropose and execute product cost models and cost reduction initiativesLead technical discussions and design review meetingsSupport procurement by defining technical specifications and qualifying vendorsWhat You Will Bring5+ years of engineering experience from multiple industries and technologies (energy industry experience is a plus).A BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related areasHands-on experience with successful product designs, cost optimization, and design-for-manufacturabilityAbility to solve mechanical engineering problems and develop conceptual designs across various mechanical engineering disciplines, particularly heat transfer, mass flow, and mechanicsAbility to perform engineering analyses in 1D or 3DDemonstrated creativity and a proven track record of innovationFluency in SolidworksA strong preference for working in highly collaborative teams; you are communicative, inclusive, and a good teammate.What We OfferLife Insurance and ADDUp to 13 paid holidays per year, in addition to a company week-long holiday in DecemberFlexible time off policyCatered lunches on-site401(k) plan with company matchRondo HQ is close to Oakland airport - one block from the Bay - and has stunning Bay views!This role is on-site, and necessitates being present at our Alameda HQ 4-5 days per week. The estimated annual salary range for this role is $150,000 to $180,000 and it would be eligible for Rondo's excellent benefits listed above plus additional compensation in the form of equity.
