You'll work across hardware, firmware, and systems integration, solving complex challenges that have profound implications for the future of commercial spaceflight. This is a unique opportunity to:Create robust and reliable power distribution architecturesWork directly with technical leadership to shape the future of space transportationSupport recruiting efforts to shape the electrical engineering team as we growWhy Lux Aeterna?Pioneering Technology: We're developing the first reusable satellite platform with controlled return capability, fundamentally transforming space from a one-way journey to a two-way highwayReal Impact: Your work will enable new industries in space manufacturing, research, and logistics while pioneering sustainable space infrastructureSpeed & Autonomy: We maintain parallel hardware development streams and empower engineers to innovate rapidly while upholding rigorous aerospace standardsWorld-Class Team: Work alongside experts from leading aerospace companies and research institutions, building technology that will reshape humanity's access to spaceThe RoleYou'll lead the electrical systems design of our reusable satellite platform, including:Architecting power management and avionics for spacecraftWorking with vendors to select commercially available subsystems, develop custom components and qualify novel electronicsDeveloping embedded firmware for power systemsCreating radiation-hardened or tolerant circuit designs for short and long duration space operationLeading power system design reviews and trade studies for power architectures and componentsCollaborating with mechanical and thermal teams to ensure system-level performanceRequired QualificationsBS in Electrical Engineering or comparable field8+ years of relevant engineering experience, with significant focus on spacecraft power electronicsProven track record designing, qualifying and operating space-rated electronics through successful missionsStrong understanding of embedded systems design including hardware and firmware developmentExperience with PCBA design and manufacturing for high-reliability applicationsExpertise in power systems and power electronicsDemonstrated ability to excel in dynamic, high-stakes engineering environmentsDesired ExperienceMS in Electrical EngineeringDirect experience with radiation-hardened or tolerant electronics designBackground in FPGA development and digital designFamiliarity with SMC-S-016, EEE-INST-002, or comparable, and other industry standards for space electronicsEarly-stage startup experienceWe are based in Denver, CO and believe in the power of in-person collaboration.
