Elm Street, Suite 101Denton, TX Location San Diego, CA Job Title Aircraft Mechanic II (Flight Mechanic) Start Date 07/14/2025 Contract CFT HSM -41 North Island Salary Range $43.11/Hour Posting Date 06/17/2025 Union No FLSA Status Non-Exempt Shift Work Possible FT/PT Full-time Relocation No Travel Possible Job Summary The Aircraft Flight Mechanic II (MH60-R) is a highly skilled professional responsible for performing all duties of a Functional Check Aircrewman on MH60-R helicopters. This role involves performing in-flight duties, assisting maintenance test pilots, troubleshooting, adjusting, and ensuring aircraft functionality both in the air and on the ground. The position is integral to the operation and maintenance of the MH60-R fleet, ensuring safe and effective flight operations in compliance with Navy standards. Responsibilities In-Flight and Ground Operations: Serve as a flight crew member for MH60-R helicopter operations, performing duties during day and night shifts. Conduct in-flight observation, troubleshooting, and repairs, ensuring the aircraft is functioning properly during flight. Perform aircraft functional checks, including run-ups and magnetic compass swings when necessary. Operate specialized tracking and balancing equipment, hoists, cranes, and other tools required for functional assignments. Aircraft Maintenance: Perform regular aircraft mechanic duties when not engaged in flight mechanic responsibilities. Conduct maintenance checks and perform maintenance operational checks (MOCs) and run-ups as needed. Complete accurate maintenance documentation using the Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS) and other required forms. Assist with removing and reinstalling cowlings, panels, and fairings as required for maintenance tasks. Provide on-the-job training (OJT) to new personnel as assigned. Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of all maintenance performed in OOMA or similar systems ensuring compliance with 4790 and safety standards. Support Duties: Operate motor vehicles, equipment, and special tools as required by the assignment. Maintain cleanliness and preservation of tools, vehicles, and equipment. Support flight line operations, including assisting with aircraft launch, recovery, and security. Handle hazardous materials according to safety guidelines. Perform imaging technology functions and document-related tasks as necessary. Dispose of hazardous materials properly, as required by job duties. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to M1 safety culture, completing required training and participating in emergency response efforts. Ensure compliance with M1 Quality Policy and the operational, safety, quality, and environmental standards for the role. Qualifications and Experience Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent (GED). At least 5 years of experience in a relevant maintenance position. Must be qualified in Mission/Design/Series (MDS) for the MH60-R or have at least 4 years of experience with the MH60-R model. Completed Naval Aircrew school and MH60-R Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) training. Must meet all required training standards as specified by US Navy instructions (OPNAV/CNAF 3710). Must hold a valid US government Common Access Card (CAC) or temporary DBIDS credential. Must possess and maintain a favorably adjudicated Tier 3 Background Investigation (Secret Clearance required). Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Must hold a valid driver's license. Must be able to pass a physical examination and meet FAA medical standards for flight duties (Class 1 and Class 2). Must maintain class II swim qualification and complete Aviation Physiology and Water Survival Qualification. Other Requirements: Must be available to work flexible hours, including all shifts, as flight schedules dictate. Working Conditions Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs and performing physical tasks as required. Computer usage for documentation using codes and clear written and verbal English language required. Constant use of eyesight, walking around work areas, and constant use of English for communication. Constant mental alertness, planning/organization skills, and ability to work under deadlines. Climbing aircraft using steps and ladders or stands. Standing for long periods and minimal sitting. Ability to work under extreme weather conditions. Work site has head, hand, hearing, eye, slip and trip hazards; shall use proper PPE and safety procedures.
