Job Description

A growing construction company in Laurel, MD seeks a qualified, bilingual Payroll Specialist Key Responsibilities Process weekly/bi-weekly payroll for construction employees, including union, non-union, and subcontractor staff. Prepare and submit certified payroll reports in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Ensure compliance with Davis-Bacon, prevailing wage laws, and union agreements. Review timesheets, job cost coding, and verify hours worked against project budgets. Manage employee records including onboarding, tax forms, garnishments, and direct deposit information. Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Coordinate with HR and project managers regarding employee status changes, union dues, and benefit deductions. Prepare and file payroll tax reports and ensure compliance with government regulations. Maintain confidentiality of employee and company payroll data. Provide payroll-related reports to management and respond to employee inquiries. Qualifications Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred). 3+ years of payroll experience, preferably in the construction industry. Strong knowledge of construction payroll, union agreements, prevailing wage, and certified payroll reporting. Experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Foundation, Viewpoint, or similar). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Bilingual in Spanish Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
