Job Summary: The teacher is responsible to the Building Principal for planning instructional lessons that meet the needs, interests and abilities of students; creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and employing effective instructional techniques. Qualifications: Applicant must hold the appropriate State of Illinois Teaching Certificate. Successful teaching experience. Demonstrated skill in diagnosing, prescribing, assessing student learning, and appropriate record keeping. Knowledge of current teaching techniques, computer and multimedia. Applicants must be able to structure a classroom to maximize student learning. Applicants must be able to establish effective communication skills with a variety of stakeholders. Performance responsibilities: Create a classroom environment that is conducive to the learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students as needed; implement CHAMPS classroom management systems for behavior and procedures, and maintain order in a fair and consistent manner; prepare for students assigned, provide adaptations as necessary and show written evidence of preparation upon request; strive to implement instruction and action the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives; assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide necessary communication with parents on an as needed basis; work cooperatively and collaboratively with other school personnel in the identification, diagnosis, and remediation of individual students with special needs; take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities; maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation; assist administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct; strive to maintain and improve professional competence by attending conferences, workshops, and/or coursework; attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees; demonstrate employee responsibilities in completing duties accurately and promptly; perform such other duties as may be assigned by the building principal; work collaboratively in the classroom with supportive service personnel when it applies; and implement current curriculum provided by school district with fidelity.
