Job Description and Duties PARK LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN / CAPITAL DISTRICT / FACILITIES DEVELOPMENT / SUTTER'S FORT STATE HISTORIC PARK / SACRAMENTO CA This position is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire. The reporting location for this position is Sutter's Fort, State Historic Park, located at 2701 L Street, Sacramento, CA. This position will work under the direction of the Park Maintenance Chief II. Come and join our diverse and hard-working staff in this urban park in the middle of downtown Sacramento CA. Sutter's Fort and the State Indian Museum encompasses approximately 4 acres of land, two structures, Sutter's Fort State Historic Park (SHP), State Indian Museum (SHP), and a Maintenance Shop. There are two water features on-site filled with waterfowl, fish, and a variety of turtles. The Park Landscape Maintenance Technician has the overall responsibility of keeping the lawn area watered, aeriated, fertilized, and free of invasive grasses. Must be knowledgeable in the proper care, such as when to prune, when to plant, what time of year to prune sensitive plants and shrubs that are Native to California. Lead a team of seasonals whose responsibilities detail cleaning the property daily between the hours of 7 A.M and 10 A.M. After opening, the Seasonal Staff are available to assist the Park Landscape Maintenance Technician with larger projects that may be planned for the day. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate. Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This position is designated as not telework eligible. Training and Development Assignments may be considered Occasional travel may be required. Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a state-owned or leased vehicle. Working Conditions Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties. Incumbents may be required to lift, carry, and/or push objects weighing 25 pounds or more. The position requires near and far vision when inspecting work. Incumbents work in all weather conditions, use cleaning and lubricating chemicals that may expose the employee to fumes, dust, and air contaminants, drive motorized vehicles, and heavy equipment, and work around moving traffic, and often work with constant interruptions. The incumbent is also required to climb ladders and use power and noise-producing tools and equipment.
