Advancement is contingent upon achieving increasing levels of skill, experience, education, certification and performance. Duties and Responsibilities Provides security and bailiff duties at the entrance to Justice Court facilities and in and around the courtroom; escorts jury panels; monitors and assists defendants, witnesses, attorneys and visitorsGoes out in the community alone or as a member of a team to serve legal papers and orders such as Writs of Attachment, Writs of Execution, Writs of Garnishment, Writs of Possession, Writs of Sequestration, Distress Warrants, Orders of Sale, Subpoenas, and Temporary Restraining OrdersChecks addresses and conducts research to obtain a correct address or contact information; researches criminal justice information systems; contacts employers; or makes personal contact with attorneys and members of the Criminal District Attorney's staff and plaintiff to develop contactResponsible for maintaining logs and records of service attempts and returns court documents to the proper jurisdictionEnforces laws that may result in issuing a citation, making an on-sight arrest, serving a criminal warrant, or other action that results in apprehending violators and taking them before a magistratePrepares incident reports, completes administrative forms and maintains activity logsPerforms other related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Graduation from High School or General Education Development (GED) certificateBasic knowledge of law enforcement and security operations and the responsibilities of a Peace OfficerHold a valid Peace Officer License from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCOLE)Must secure and maintain a favorable background and clearanceMust clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen testMust possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License and an insurable driving recordMay be exposed to risk of bodily injuryMay be required to work evening and weekend shifts May be required to more than 40 hours during the workweekWork Environment and Physical Demands:Frequently working in County facilitiesFrequently operates or rides in police type vehiclesFrequently works outside vehicle when serving legal papers at residences or places of employmentOccasional exposure to outdoor weather environmentMust have physical stamina to control persons who may be agitated or resistantOccasional exposure to hostile or violent individuals with occasional exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, and/or other potentially infectious materialOccasionally moves items weighing up to 25 poundsOccasionally moves about the officeFrequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate informationConstantly operates a two-way radio, cellular phone, handgun, and handcuffsConstantly operates a computer and other office productivity machineryPositions self to perform essential functionsMust be able to remain in a stationary position Supplemental InformationWorkstations with internet access are available, if needed, to view job postings and apply online at 211 S Flores, San Antonio, TX 78204, 8am - 5pm, Monday through Friday.
