As Patient Companion, you will help facilitate this mission by providing compassionate and top-quality care. In this role, you will assist RNs, physicians, dietitians and other staff in coordinating and fulfilling treatment plans. This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working day/evening/night/weekend shifts varying between 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. A caregiver who excels in this role will: * Assist with direct and indirect patient care for one to two patients, such as rooming, vital signs, weight and pulse oximetry. If assigned to a closed unit, you will observe three to four patients. * Assure patient safety by ensuring that catheters, tubes or other medical equipment have not been removed or disconnected. * Accompany and assist patients at all times, including transport, tests, transfers and ambulation. * Identify and report changes in patient status to an RN or physician. * Complete all documentation and provide hand-off communication to caregivers responsible for the patient. * Assist with direct and indirect patient care for one to two patients as assigned, or if assigned to a closed unit, provide constant observation only for safety for three to four patients Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: * High School Diploma or GED * Heartsaver level of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon or within three months of hire * Completion of a hospital-based patient companion training program or equivalent experience OR currently enrolled at an accredited school of Nursing, with completion of a Nursing Fundamentals Course OR have completed hospital-based NA/PC orientation or equivalent Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: * Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities, such as basic hygiene, skin care and vital signs Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities. Click the link and see how we're dedicated to providing what matters most to you: Physical Requirements: * Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking. * Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. * Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
