Tokyo Central store Seafood Department Leader is the important role in our store(s) which coordinates the activities of team members engaged in ordering, processing, and presenting seafood products and maintaining frozen food lockers while under the supervision of the Store Manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):Assists the Store Manager with all Seafood Department responsibilities.Oversee all Seafood Department responsibilities including but not limited to customer service, management, ordering, receiving of products and, scheduling, and paperwork.Under the direction of the Store Manager, is responsible for in-service training for all seafood department employees, including training documentation.Assist the Store Manager with the maintaining the appropriate profit margin in accordance to the approved pre-set budget for seafood department, which entails, but is not limited to: sales goals for seafood department, cost of goods, expenses, price changes and waste management.Helps manage costs by controlling shrink and theft.Assures high quality and proper quantity of products via proper ordering and receiving while under the direction of the Store Manager.Examines products bought for resale or received for storage.Assures proper displaying and selling of all seafood products to customers and advises customers on quality of food, method of handling, and other factors affecting preparing, freezing, and storage if customer inquiring the information.Responsible for all seafood department employees practicing the same techniques.Responsible for cleanliness and sanitation of the seafood back room.Consistently walks around the back of the case to check the view from the front to assure clean, visible, and plentiful display of product.Responsible for using the tools provided by management to ensure the success of the department.Engages and coaches others in suggestive selling techniques.Handles customer complaints in such a manner to assure customer satisfaction.Assists Store Manager and EHS team with safety meetings or trainings and assures that all the team members fall within accordance to Cal Osha SB-198.Supporting store management team to documents all department meetings and obtains employee's signatures.Maintains the Seafood Department, including all seafood cases, under current health codes and store standards on sanitation and cleanliness.Helps oversee and may arrange for all equipment to be fixed and cleaned.Leads by example; models correct behavior and adherence to company policies and procedures.Follows the employee handbook at all times, especially on service standards and appearance.At all times, meets and exceeds Tokyo Central store standards in service, quality, and cleanliness.Cross-Training & Departmental FlexibilityTo support operational excellence and employee development, this role includes cross-training and collaboration across departments. Team members may be assigned tasks outside their primary area.RequirementsBasic Requirements- Be able to demonstrate small team management ability. Team size can be 0~ 10 employees. Management skills are required for seafood department overall direction, coordination, and evaluation. Management activities including interviewing; training employee's; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.- High School diploma or general education degree (GED); six months to one-year industrial related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.- Ability to read and interpret English version of documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to use English to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, or employees in English. Japanese or Spanish bilingual language ability is not must but can be a hug plus. - Basic mathematical skills are required, such as ability to calculate figures and amounts, add, subtract, divide, and multiply using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.- General reasoning ability is required. This position needs ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form, ability to resolve conflicts in such a manner to create a win-win situation, and ability to analyze a variety of situations, think through to a solution and implement the solution.- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and/or cold, to electrical shock, and to risk of burn.
