We're looking for a dedicated Dispatcher to manage bus routes, support drivers and monitors, and ensure every student reaches school safely and on time. We're proud to offer: * $24/hour starting wage * Career advancement opportunities within one of North America's largest and most respected transportation companies * A positive, rewarding work environment with training and growth potential * Work supporting Lake Charles Charter Academy and Lake Charles College Prep What You'll Do as a Dispatcher: * Oversee daily bus routes and scheduling to ensure on-time performance * Coach and support drivers and monitors on the front line * Manage high volumes of phone and radio communication * Address scheduling or driver concerns and report to Operations Supervisor/Contract Manager * Serve as primary liaison with school districts and key customers * Assist with charter reservations, billing, or driver payroll as needed * Provide solutions to drop-off and pick-up challenges * Step in as a backup driver or help with administrative tasks when necessary * Complete special projects and assist in day-to-day operational supervision What We're Looking For: * 3-5 years of experience in dispatch, terminal operations, or a related field * High school diploma or equivalent * Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment * Strong communication and customer service skills * Ability to perform under deadlines and handle multiple priorities * Computer literate * Must pass DOT drug testing and physical exam (DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 prohibits use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana) Why You'll Love Working at First Student: At First Student, we put our customers first, prioritize safety, and are dedicated to dependable transportation.
