Your Application Will Be Considered For All Noted Open Positions These Positions Are Funded In Part Through Federal Funds The Accounting Technician III provides technical support within the Accounting and Financial Management Division of the DHHS Controller's Office. This position supports invoice and payment processing through the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS), with a focus on accounts payable for contract reimbursements. The role ensures invoice accuracy, confirms compliance with federal and state guidelines, and enters financial data into NCFS for processing. This position contributes to the efficient reimbursement of vendors and contractors by overseeing contract payments and validating supporting documentation. It plays a critical part in ensuring federal funds are applied correctly and in a timely manner, supporting compliance and operational continuity across DHHS program areas. Key Duties Include: * Process high volumes of monthly invoice reimbursements from contractors and service providers * Review invoices and supporting documents for completeness, accuracy, and contract compliance * Enter accounting data into the NCFS (Oracle-based system) for accounts payable functions * Monitor and track payment timeliness to ensure compliance with funding requirements * Interpret and apply accounting guidelines related to federal funding and contractual terms * Reconcile payment discrepancies by researching and resolving data conflicts * Maintain internal controls to ensure data accuracy and prevent processing errors * Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders regarding contract payments and documentation * Support month-end closeout and reporting procedures related to payables * Recommend system or workflow changes to enhance payment efficiency About the NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS): The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, and has approximately 17,000 employees.
