Job Title: Phlebotomist II Job Description The role of the Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations. This position is based in The Woodlands. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, decontaminate, and update patient information. + Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. + Explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, and other specimen collections such as urine or fecal, clearly and courteously. + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. + Fully understand and execute physicians' orders. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. + Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy. + Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature. + Place samples in appropriate collection containers or tubes, accurately label them, and follow procedures necessary for transport to maintain specimen integrity. + Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. + Attend annual department trainings. + Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills + Phlebotomy certification for the state where employed. + Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. + High School Diploma or GED. + 0-2 years of experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with blood draw, venipuncture, specimen collection, and capillary puncture. + Ability to use centrifuges and perform blood drawing using butterfly needles. Work Environment The role is based in an OBGYN Integrated Outpatient (IOP) setting. The work environment is dynamic, requiring adherence to protocols and procedures to ensure specimen integrity and compliance with regulations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Shenandoah, Texas.  Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
