Description Robert Half is partnering with a well-known construction company in Des Moines to find a Controller with exceptional financial management, construction project accounting, and leadership expertise. Key Areas of Responsibility: Financial Management + Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. + Oversee General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), payroll, and banking operations. + Manage annual financial audits, ensuring compliance and accuracy. + Maintain fixed asset schedules. Leadership + Mentor and supervise accounting staff, fostering development and performance. + Partner with operations, estimating, and executive leadership + Drive process improvements to enhance workflows and efficiency. Project Accounting + Oversee job costing and Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules. + Track and report on project profitability, budgets, variances, and billing. + Collaborate with project managers and estimators to ensure cost controls are maintained. + Handle billings, subcontractor payments, and lien waiver administration. Cash Flow, Budget and Forecast + Lead annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and project-specific financial plans. + Monitor cash flow to maintain optimal operating capital. + Conduct financial analysis to identify risk, opportunity, and cost-saving measures. Compliance and Internal Controls + Ensure compliance with regulations, internal controls, and payroll standards. + Prepare required reports for bonding, insurance, and financing. + Ensure adherence to labor laws, union reporting, and wage regulations. Requirements - Proven experience in financial reporting and accounting practices. - Strong knowledge of month-end close processes and reconciliation procedures. - Background in construction; expertise in project accounting and cost management. - Familiarity with budget and financial forecasting. - Excellent organizational and documentation skills. - Previous leadership and management. - Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. - Bachelor's degree in accounting Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
