Job Summary:The Phlebotomist is an essential member of the healthcare team, responsible for collecting and preparing blood and other specimens for laboratory testing. This role requires skillful venipuncture techniques, attention to detail, and the ability to provide a calm, professional experience for patients. The Phlebotomist ensures all samples are accurately labeled, handled, and processed in accordance with regulatory and safety standards.Key Responsibilities:Perform venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles for blood specimen collectionLabel, centrifuge, package, and store specimens according to established proceduresGreet patients professionally and clearly explain the collection process to ease anxietyEnsure proper identification and matching of requisition forms with specimen tubesMaintain compliance with OSHA, DEP, and laboratory safety regulationsAccurately document patient information, specimen data, and test requisitionsRespond to phone inquiries and communicate lab results as appropriateMaintain cleanliness and safety of work environment and equipmentAttend required annual department training sessionsPerform other duties as assigned by supervisors or managementRequired Qualifications:Minimum of 2 year of experience in phlebotomyProficient in specimen collection procedures and blood draw techniquesKnowledge of lab protocols, safety regulations, and compliance standardsAbility to interact with patients professionally, calmly, and compassionatelyDetail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skillsPreferred Qualifications (if any):Prior experience in a high-volume or hospital-based lab setting is a plusFamiliarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
