Job Title: Phlebotomist II Job Description The primary role of the Phlebotomist II is to assist in executing various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations. This position is based in The Woodlands. Responsibilities * Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens. * Record maintenance data and decontaminate equipment. * Update patient information and collect/store specimens following established procedures. * Clearly explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process to patients. * Demonstrate techniques using straight or butterfly needles. * Understand and follow all physicians' orders. * Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. * Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. * Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy. * Package specimens for transport, maintaining required temperatures. * Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. * Attend annual department trainings. * Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results. Essential Skills * Phlebotomy skills, including blood draw and venipuncture. * Specimen collection and capillary puncture techniques. * Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Additional Skills & Qualifications * Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. * High School Diploma or GED. * 0-2 years of related experience. Work Environment The role is situated in an OBGYN IOP setting, requiring attention to detail and adherence to established protocols. The work environment is fast-paced and requires compliance with safety regulations. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
