Job Title: Lab Technician Job Description Join our team as a Lab Technician where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of various samples in a production-based analytical lab. This position offers a dynamic work environment and the opportunity to collaborate with a dedicated team. Responsibilities * Responsible for splitting and homogenizing incoming samples in compliance with all applicable standard operating procedures and quality systems. * Care for and maintain equipment associated with sample processing activities. * Perform various duties as required by management or department that may not be specifically detailed in this job description. * Prepare incoming test samples by splitting, grinding with appropriate grinders, and homogenize aseptically for further testing according to standard operating procedures and applicable quality control procedures. * Clean workplace and equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures and general housekeeping requirements. * Provide feedback to the department manager for procedure improvements. * Monitor and meet turnaround time (TAT) requirements for sample workflow, informing the department manager of any anticipated capacity constraints that may delay TAT. * Maintain assigned equipment according to standard operating procedures and perform operational qualifications prior to analysis. * Log and deliver sample splits to testing departments, obtaining appropriate signatures on logs when necessary. * Log, store, and properly discard sample retains according to standard operating procedures. * Perform environmental monitoring as needed. * Assist with client samples using appropriate media and support other technicians with weekly sample preparation and aseptic processing. Essential Skills * High School Diploma * Proficient with computers and programs, particularly Excel * Ability to work cooperatively and independently * Effective verbal and written communication skills * Interest in science, biology, or microbiology * Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed * Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship Additional Skills & Qualifications * Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred * Experience in food service is a plus * Ideal candidates will have a can-do attitude, team spirit, ability to multitask, and a customer service mindset * Candidates with a background in food service, such as baristas, food servers, or bartenders, have performed well in this role * Must be able to lift 50 lbs Work Environment The position is based in a production-based analytical lab, operating Monday through Friday from 12pm to 8:30pm. The team comprises 11 technicians working on approximately 12 assays. Samples include protein bars, skincare products, produce, and raw meat products at ambient and cold temperatures. Tests conducted include meat study validation, salmonella, listeria, and E. coli. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $20.00/hr.
