OverviewNorthrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Software Engineering Manager 2 to join our team in Rancho Bernardo, CA, El Segundo, CA or Melbourne, FL.The successful candidate will lead a team of approximately 10-20 individuals to complete the full software development life cycle in an Agile software development environment. The candidate will collaborate with Systems Engineering, Cloud & Application, Test Automation, DevSecOps and Systems Test to ensure the team meets the mission engineering objectives of the contract. This role is dual-hatted, reporting to the IPT Lead on the program side and the Software Department Manager on the functional side. On-site work is required with limited travel up to 10%.Relocation assistance is not provided. Clearances: SAP permitted; position requires U.S. Citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance; ability to obtain initial SAP/PAR.ResponsibilitiesNew business acquisition, proposal, and special projects support.Support Functional Engineering initiatives.Assist with staff workload forecast preparation.Identify and implement new or improved tools and processes to increase team efficiency.Acquire necessary computers, equipment, and tools to enable the team to accomplish assigned work.Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analyses, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.Lead engineering teams with program execution.Mentor engineers through all phases of the program.Create, review, and maintain critical documentation.Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and support software department activities.Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a STEM field AND 9 years of related software development experience, OR a Master’s degree AND 7 years of related experience.Experience in a leadership role using Agile development (Product Owner, SCRUM Master, and/or team member).Experience with full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile software development, OO programming, software integration and testing.Experience with at least two programming or scripting languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C++, C#, PowerShell, VBScript, Bash, KornShell).Experience with Cloud technologies and service providers.Active in-Scope DoD Secret clearance and ability to obtain initial SAP/PAR.Preferred QualificationsCurrent approved PAR to applicable program.Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field.Advanced technical management degree.Prior experience in engineering functional management.Proven leadership and interpersonal skills; experience leading a team of 5-12 with on-time performance.Experience developing proposal inputs (task descriptions and basis of estimate).Time management and organizational skills for multiple concurrent responsibilities.Experience with cost account management and task/resource planning.Salary and BenefitsPrimary Level Salary Range: $135,100.00 - $234,700.00. The range is a general guideline and considers scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and Long Term Incentives depending on role.
