The company, founded in 2006, operates across North America with offices throughout Canada and the United States, and satisfies risk in Contract, Commercial and Developer Surety, Directors' and Officers' Liability, Fidelity, Professional Liability and Media Liability.We are currently seeking a qualified individual for the opportunity in our Chicago, IL office.Senior Underwriter – Corporate Insurance, Financial Lines Key responsibilities As a key member of the underwriting team, the Financial Lines Underwriter will evaluate price and manage portfolios of management liability and excess liability exposures. Provide broker-facing relationship management and proactive portfolio stewardship to deliver profitable growth and superior service. Responsibilities Exceptional broker and client facing skills with a demonstrated ability to build long term partnerships and deliver outstanding service Proven ability to analyze complex issues and drive quick, accurate problem resolution Detail-oriented and quality-driven approach to policy wording, documentation and endorsement management Comfort operating in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities and deadlines Clear, persuasive written and verbal communication for negotiation, risk presentations, and internal reporting Self-starter with strong organizational skills; effective working both autonomously and in cross-functional teams Confident decision-maker who exercises sound judgment within underwriting authority limits Experience managing a portfolio and meeting defined performance metrics Proven success sourcing and converting new business opportunities within the broker community Advanced working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook Qualifications 5+ years of experience in a Financial Lines Underwriter role Underwrite new and renewal business for financial lines products in accordance with risk appetite, authority, and pricing guidelines Prepare clear data-driven risk assessments and recommendations for internal stakeholders Negotiate placement terms with brokers Proactively develop new business by cultivating broker relationships, participating in targeted marketing initiatives and representing Trisura at industry events Maintain and expand technical knowledge of financial lines coverages and market trends Be resourceful to solve complex matters for the brokerage community Mentor and guide junior staff Expand industry knowledge to improve underwriting decisions through courses and training Knowledge of management liability insurance products including D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, and Crime Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration Salary, benefits and inclusion The salary range is expected to be $115,000 to $165,000 plus bonus within the terms of the company plan.
