Hybrid schedule: 3 days/week in office.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesReporting to the CFO, lead the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and manage special finance or accounting projects as needed.Collaborate closely with the CFO and leadership team to define departmental goals and strategic direction.Manage the day-to-day operations across accounting, investment, financial, and regulatory reporting, including coordination with external tax advisors.Provide leadership and support in team development, including mentoring, goal setting, performance evaluation, and regular feedback.Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide financial policies and procedures, ensuring a strong framework of internal controls.Act as a senior member of the CFO’s team, representing the function across the organization and externally; step in on behalf of the CFO when required.Cultivate and manage key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, actuaries, regulators, and other third parties.Stay abreast of evolving insurance, tax, US GAAP, and statutory accounting regulations, supporting the CFO in identifying and managing financial risk.Maintain a comprehensive internal control environment to support accurate financial reporting, forecasting, and planning.Perform other duties and strategic projects as assigned.Qualifications & Experience7+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, with a strong preference for candidates from the property and casualty insurance industry.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.CPA or MBA preferred.Deep understanding of US GAAP and US Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), especially as applied in the Property & Casualty insurance sector.Demonstrated experience in investment accounting, tax, and regulatory reporting.Proven ability to design and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal control frameworks in complex financial environments.Strong leadership presence with a collaborative and supportive management style; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Experience with Workday Financials or comparable ERP systems is strongly preferred.A background in insurance accounting, education/certification, or equivalent experience is a plus.Candidates should be highly relational and bring a dynamic, caring leadership style with strong verbal and written communication, leadership, and organizational skills.This position is located in South Norwalk, CT.
