Senior Thermal Systems Integration Engineer Senior Thermal Systems Integration Engineer role with Ford Motor Company. This position is part of Ford’s Electric Vehicles, Digital and Design (EVDD) team, focused on delivering a fully electric transportation future. You will work with an agile team to advance thermal systems for electric vehicles, integrating testing into the design process and proposing product or controls improvements. Responsibilities Design and build thermal test assets spanning a range of size and complexity, from simple coolant bench tests to fully instrumented vehicles. Automate and script hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testers to replicate boundary conditions and loads for thermal systems. Collaborate with modeling engineers to validate predictions and propose tests based on prediction weaknesses. Work with controls engineers to validate software and propose improvements. Debug control algorithms at bench and vehicle levels with test and integration engineers. Lead engineering test fleets (bucks and/or vehicles) and plan critical test campaigns at wind tunnels and in the field. Apply a system-level, physics-driven approach to balance heat transfer, energy, cost, reliability, NVH and packaging trade-offs. Qualifications B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Foundational background in thermal systems (heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics). 4+ years of experience with modeling tools (GT, Python, MATLAB/Simulink, Dymola, TAITherm or similar). Experience with basic programming best practices and readable, reusable code. Experience with high voltage powertrain and thermal systems; diagnosing and repairing HVAC components. Safe handling of glycol, AC refrigerant, and oil-based liquids and gases; sensor installation and calibration experience. Experience with data acquisition systems and sensors; ability to interpret and create wiring diagrams for test fixtures. Cross-functional collaboration experience with automotive thermal systems and controls. Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on thermal engineering or energy systems is a plus.
