See responsibilities and qualifications for this role.Job DescriptionAs Corporate Counsel, you will provide legal expertise with a purpose-driven focus, supporting diverse institutions across the U.S. and Caribbean, including nursing, medical, and veterinary programs. You will act as a trusted advisor, addressing regulatory compliance, student success, and strategic partnerships in a fast-paced environment.ResponsibilitiesProvide legal support for five Title IV institutions located in the United States and the Caribbean.Collaborate with institutional departments to provide legal research, writing, and analytical support; review domestic and international agreements; negotiate clinical affiliation agreements; draft strategic partnerships agreements.Provide guidance on student-related issues including student misconduct, academic dishonesty, student records, disability accommodations, and academic policy requirements; assist with pre-litigation matters.Review, draft, and respond to student complaints with external agencies and/or private counsel.Coordinate and monitor FERPA and student privacy protections, including handling subpoenas for education records.Advise on academic research, institutional contracting, regulatory compliance, and other higher education matters for nursing, medical, and veterinary programs, including for-profit higher education issues.Review and draft policies and procedures to support institutional goals, manage risk, and provide guidance on periodic updates.Collaborate with business partners to develop and implement best practices.Create and deliver training on substantive legal topics.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, candidates should meet the following requirements. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.J.D. from an accredited law school.Must be in good standing with the Illinois State bar.5+ years of experience as an attorney in a law firm or corporate in-house setting.Experience negotiating commercial contracts, particularly information technology and consulting services purchases.Litigation experience.Experience providing legal counsel on consumer protection laws.Strong problem-solving, analytical, and written/oral communication skills.Ability to interact with clients at all levels of the organization, including senior management.Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently under time pressures in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.Strong work ethic, customer service orientation, and ability to prioritize conflicting demands.Additional InformationSalary range (pay transparency): $100,171.61 – $181,034.70.
