The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and deploying policy forms and rates to meet corporate underwriting and profitability goals. This role involves ensuring the department's compliance with operating policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, as well as managing a team of underwriting professionals. The VP of Underwriting will also be tasked with enhancing the underwriting philosophy, standards, and guidelines in line with the company's risk management objectives, and maintaining relationships with property inspection services. Applicants must have a minimum of 10 years' experience in property and casualty insurance underwriting or related positions, with a strong background in risk selection, pricing practices, and knowledge of insurance policy and form provisions. A BS or BA degree in a related field is typically required, with a preference for a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation. The role demands a leader with demonstrated management skills, the ability to develop and achieve departmental goals, and a commitment to fostering a work culture that values diversity, inclusion, and practical decision-making. The VP of Underwriting will be expected to have proficient computer skills, extensive knowledge of insurance coverage and endorsement provisions, and a valid driver's license.
