The CDO will be responsible for overseeing the development department, ensuring that the fundraising strategy aligns with the organization's mission and values, and fostering a culture of philanthropy. This role involves direct supervision of a development team, managing a donor portfolio, and working closely with the Board, CEO, and other stakeholders to meet fundraising goals. The ideal candidate will be a strategic and skilled leader with a proven track record in fundraising, particularly in the cultivation and solicitation of major gifts. Applicants for the CDO position at the company should have a minimum of 7-10 years' professional fundraising experience in a leadership role, with a strong preference for those with a background in social service or community-focused organizations. The role requires exceptional communication, interpersonal, and management skills, as well as proficiency in donor management tools, with Salesforce experience being strongly preferred. A Bachelor's degree is required, and a CFRE certification is a plus. The successful candidate will be a collaborative and innovative thought leader, capable of driving impactful giving and ensuring that all fund development efforts support the organization's overall goals and objectives.
