The successful candidate will provide strategic legal guidance, ensure compliance with CDFI financial regulations, and oversee the preparation and negotiation of a variety of legal documents, including loan agreements and contracts. This role requires a JD from an accredited law school, a minimum of 10 years' legal experience, and a strong understanding of lending laws and CDFI regulatory frameworks. The Vice President, General Counsel will also be responsible for managing external legal counsel, supervising internal legal staff, and collaborating with the executive team to develop and implement policies that mitigate legal risks. Applicants for the Vice President, General Counsel position at the company should be licensed to practice law in the U.S., with a preference for New York State bar admittance. The role demands excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work with limited supervision and a commitment to the organization's values. Experience in commercial or real estate lending, particularly with CDFIs, is highly valued.
