**Job Description** **Software Development Manager** **Location:** Strong preference for Nashville or Austin. Remote from limited other areas within the US will also be considered. We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead product development teams building Oracle's next-generation, AI-powered ticketing platform. In this role, you will drive technical excellence, guide product direction, and foster a culture of trust, direct feedback, and healthy debate. You will measure team health and delivery through outcomes, focusing on cycle time and limiting work in progress (WIP) to maximize flow. This is the opportunity for you! **Preferred Qualifications:** + Bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field + 8+ years of experience in software development. + 3+ years of hands-on management experience in software engineering. + Excellent leadership and team-building skills, proven ability to hire and grow talents. + Experience in designing enterprise scale full-stack cloud-based services + Deep technical expertise working with leading platforms such as OCI, AWS, Azure, GCP + Experience with container orchestration technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker) + Strong grasp of Agile/SCRUM development in enterprise environments + Experience in full-stack cloud services and modern backend technologies (Java, Python). + Experience in managing Jira environments + Excellent communication skills with a collaborative and decisive leadership style. **Responsibilities** **Key Responsibilities** + **Lead by Example:** Stay actively engaged with design and code reviews; remove technical obstacles, and mentor engineers at every level. + **Drive Outcomes:** Measure and improve team throughput, delivering impactful customer outcomes-not just shipping features. + **Lean and Agile Mindset:** Optimize cycle times and minimize WIP; root out bottlenecks and continually improve how your team gets things done. + **Create Team Cohesion:** Build a culture of psychological safety, honest feedback, open debate, and mutual respect-a team truly greater than the sum of its parts. + **Empower Individuals:** Encourage experimentation, support creative problem solving, and recognize the unique strengths of each team member. + **Technical Leadership:** Set and uphold engineering standards for architecture, code quality, reliability, security, and operational excellence. + **Collaborate Cross-Functionally:** Work with product and leadership to translate vision into actionable execution; communicate clearly across all levels and disciplines. + **Coach, Develop & Hire:** Mentor engineers, nurture talent, and participate in hiring exceptional people who enhance our culture and ability to deliver. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
