Location: Warehouse Operations & Mainten Department: Maintenance & Repairs -West Division Area:West Contract Months:12 Hourly Rate: $$22.51 JOB SUMMARY Analyzes and corrects all electrical problems. Repairs, replaces, and overhauls all electrical equipment in a safe and proper manner. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES * Maintains electrical systems throughout district facilities. * Responds to electrical emergencies and power outages, including changing out transformers, breakers, switches, and outlets * Assists other crafts in troubleshooting electrical control problems related to systems. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED * Orders material and completes work orders. Attends training sessions. * Repairs interior and exterior lighting systems. * Performs other job-related duties as assigned. EDUCATION Vocational / Technical / Business School WORK EXPERIENCE 3 to 5 years SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION Licensed Electrician Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier), Hand tools (e.g., hammer, shovel, screwdriver), Power tools (e.g., radial saw, reciprocating saw, drill, pheunomatic hammer), Vehicles (e.g., automobile, truck, tractor, forklift) LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES No supervisory or direct people management responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice and training to staff. WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT Work involves the application of moderately complex procedures and tasks that are quite varied. Independent judgment is often required to select and apply the most appropriate of available resources. Ongoing supervision is provided on an "as needed" basis. BUDGET AUTHORITY No budget development activity is required. PROBLEM SOLVING Decisions are made on routine matters affecting few individuals and usually within the confines of the job's own department. Specific job activities and results are typically reviewed closely. There are limited requirements for developing new ideas or changes in methods, procedures or services. IMPACT OF DECISIONS Decisions have minor, small and possibly incremental impact on the department or facility. Errors are usually discovered in succeeding operations where most of the work is verified or checked and is normally confined to a single department or phase of the organizational activities resulting in brief inconvenience. COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS Information sharing - gives and receives information such as options, technical direction, instructions and reporting results. Interactions are mostly with customers, own supervisor and coworkers in own and other departments. CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS Follows through with customer inquiries, requests and complaints. Forwards difficult and non-routine inquiries or requests to appropriate level for resolution. WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Work involves continuous exposure to hazardous substances, potentially dangerous situations, and unpleasant work conditions such as adverse weather conditions or extreme risk of accidental or ill health.
