The position is primarily responsible for assisting in planning, forecasting and inventory management. The responsibilities will be managing the day-to-day of purchasing inventory, non-inventory items and services, providing cost reduction strategies and improving processes. Will be responsible for identifying and qualifying new vendors, perform ongoing vendor evaluations in accordance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements. Works under general supervision. Although the location of the position is in Londonderry, NH, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations. Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to: Purchasing (Daily purchasing, expediting, date and data management) Create, review and communicate delivery schedules with vendors, production and management Supporting Production Planner in inventory planning (Safety stock, forecast, build/order size) Vendor Relationship Management including the development and maintenance of long-term vendor supply agreements Initiating and participating in purchasing improvement and cost reduction programs Troubleshooting and supporting the resolution of vendor related issues and concerns Supporting costing / pricing / margin reviews Conducting and supporting supplier visits, quality audits, and evaluations. Generating special and periodic reports as required or directed In addition to the essential functions and duties listed above, all positions are also responsible for: Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures. Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments. The Company retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position. Physical Activities: This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary. Requirements Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position preferred. Education : High School Diploma or equivalent, or equivalent work experience Specialized Knowledge and Skills: ERP Systems (Microsoft Dynamics a plus) Proficient in MS Office (Particularly Excel and Outlook) Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, procedure manuals, routine reports and correspondence Ability to create documents as part of process improvement Hourly rate for this position is $28.00 - $35.00 depending on experience Thorlabs values its diverse environment and is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
