OverviewThe Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Senior Principal Software Engineer to join our global team. In this role, you will work as part of a global software development team to design, architect, and implement future virtualization solutions for Red Hat OpenShift. This empowers our associates to focus on higher-impact work, creating smart, more innovative solutions that solve our customers' most pressing challenges.What you will doDesign, develop, and implement virtualization related solutions for Red Hat's next-generation platforms, based on Red Hat OpenShift and thus KubernetesBecome responsible for the quality of our offerings, participate in peer code reviews and continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD), and respond to security threats (CVEs).Participate in, lead, and create upstream networking project communities, including contributing new development work and existing features and fixes for projects like Kubernetes (Kubernetes descheduler (KubeVirt (and Forklift (your deep virtualization and Kubernetes expertise to help customers solve complex business problems with creative solutionsWhat you will bringStrong experience with Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, and container networking technologiesStrong virtualization knowledge including expertise in one or more of scheduling, fencing, storage, network, life-cycle managementExperience with cloud technologiesExperience using programming languages like Go, Python or C, C++ Understanding of how open source and free software communities workMotivated with a proactive attitude, willingness to tackle new problems, and an ability to develop new architectures and identify good onesAbility to work well as part of a team in a highly collaborative, distributed environment with a diverse teamCollaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for AI integration within the software development lifecycle, driving continuous improvement and innovation in engineering practices; share use cases for successful experiments with stakeholders for broader use. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.Pay TransparencyRed Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity.
