OverviewTax Senior Manager, Core Tax Services at BDO USAJob description is provided for internal review. The Senior Tax Manager is responsible for providing tax and consulting services to business clients with pass-through entities and to their business owners.ResponsibilitiesPerform tax planning, preparation and research for pass-through entities (S-corps, LLCs, Partnerships) and the business owners’ individual returns, including estates, trusts and charitable entitiesManage client engagements, supervise and review work of team staff, and work closely with clients as well as internal managers and partnersContribute to client satisfaction by providing timely services and high-quality work productDemonstrate understanding of tax concepts and actively pursue increased tax knowledge through client assignments and current tax developmentsTax ComplianceEnsure clients comply with applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens, and ensure self and client service teams comply with firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (TQM)Show significant knowledge of taxation related to personal income, estate and gift tax, wealth retention strategies, and taxation of entities owned by business owners (partnership and corporate taxation)Conduct top-level review of tax returns and resolve tax issues with clients, involving specialists where appropriatePlan and review the tax process and procedures, including budgeting and staffing; monitor engagement progress and time vs. budget with assistance of Senior; ensure timely billing and collection of A/RManage client relationships/expectations in accordance with the projectProvide timely advice to clientsResearchIdentify when research is needed, frame issues, perform research, and report analysis clearly and conciselyApply firm and professional standards for preparation of WTA and tax returns; involve firm specialists as appropriateStrategy DevelopmentDevelop new or improved ideas to improve client, Firm, or Firm personnel outcomes (e.g., tax reduction or efficiency improvements)Review studies of tax implications and present alternative courses of actionCapture lessons learned on prior projects and advise on process improvementsOther duties as requiredSupervisory ResponsibilitiesBuild and lead a team of professionals to serve high net worth clients with timely responsesSupervise associates and senior associates on projectsReview work and provide commentsTrain Associates and Senior Associates on software toolsAct as a Career Advisor to associates and senior associatesSchedule and manage workload of junior staffProvide verbal and written performance feedbackEducation, Experience, Certifications & SkillsBachelor’s degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics preferredMaster’s degree in Accounting or Taxation preferredEight (8) or more years of relevant tax experience; prior supervisory experience required; experience with individual, estate, trust, partnership, S-corp, and private foundation tax/consultingCPA certification, Attorney (admitted in the U.S.) or Enrolled Agent (or equivalent) requiredProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferredAbout UsJoin us at BDO, where you will find more than a career — you’ll find a place where your work is impactful and you are valued for your individuality.
