Overview Our client is a very successful and growing private industrial services company located on the south side of Houston, and they seek to add a Chief Financial Officer to their leadership team. ABOUT THE ROLE This role requires a "hands on" leader in accounting and reporting as well as someone seeking to lead the organization in making strategic financial decisions and overseeing the budgeting and analysis functions. The organization seeks someone with a data analysis and systems optimization mindset. This role will work closely with the executive management team in growing the organization and optimizing the results. Responsibilities Oversee Accounting Functions: Maintain and optimize a financial control system which ensures assets of the company are protected and financial reporting is accurate. Manage and support accounting personnel for all accounting and accounting related tasks. Ensure that control procedures and financial systems are in place and functioning as designed. Provide for necessary organizational structure and personnel to perform accounting tasks in alignment with control procedures in a timely and accurate manner. Manage payroll process and related employee compliance, including all payroll tax reporting and other payroll compliance items. Ensure that all accounting activities are performed in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. Finance Function Leader: Manage debt and financing activities, includes debt payment and related accounting and financial reporting required by any loan agreements. Manage daily, weekly and monthly cash requirements and develop best uses of cash and other financial resources for recommendation to other management. Management and Management Reporting: Participate with company management as finance representative. Provide financial statements to management and board as required and requested. Provide useful management reporting for monitoring the company’s performance both financially and operationally. Provide specific financial analysis where necessary, including special projects and detailed analysis regarding certain trends or as needed. Compliance and Regulatory Obligations: Manage any financial and compliance audits or reviews which are required annually. Manage filings of federal and state tax returns and quarterly payment of these applicable taxes. Ensure financial compliance reporting for sales tax, property tax, and any other tax compliance areas. Ensure compliance of any other non-tax federal, state, or local filing obligations that involve finance, payroll, or human resources. Ensure compliance of any new federal and state laws involving tax, payroll, or human resources. Qualifications Education: Minimum of Bachelor/'s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent is required. MBA or Master/'s degree is preferred. Experience: Requires 15 plus years/' experience in accounting and finance preferably in a company setting or CPA firm. Financial reporting experience is necessary. Managing personnel experience is necessary. Experience with financial control processes, accounting processes, and ERP system is necessary. Cash management and forecasting experience is also preferred. CPA is a plus. Candidate must be a confident self-starter with initiative and be able to solve complex problems. The candidate should be adept with accounting and finance software and computer systems. Must be able to develop and improve financial control processes. Effective communication skills are a must.
