Job Overview The Assistant Director of Sales is a senior-level sales manager with hotel experience and leads a team of associates. Reporting to the Director of Sales, this role may directly or indirectly lead sales staff and manage select accounts. The goal is to achieve revenue by developing new accounts and growing current hotel accounts using a profitable and win-win selling approach. Responsibilities Achieves a minimum of 90% of productivity goals and 100% of activity goals, as established by management. Targets appointment-oriented sales calls to support a direct sales program aligned with department budget and marketing plan. Must have reliable transportation and a valid state driver’s license to make sales calls. Maximizes current hotel key accounts by identifying and pursuing those with revenue growth potential. Captures competitor accounts through networking and market research to target and solicit new business. Plans and implements an ongoing Targeted Account Development "hit list" to create new revenue and contracts. Continuously targets and prospects for new business through telemarketing and proactive selling. Uses yield management techniques to profitably negotiate room rates and function space commitments. Maintains accurate and organized client and account documentation to support service delivery. Develops strong customer relations through professional, courteous, and ethical interactions. Develops customer profiles and maintains an effective trace system to meet client needs and increase revenues. Follows up promptly on customer needs and inquiries. Conducts market research and studies the marketplace to capitalize on strengths and address weaknesses. Focuses on revenue-producing activity with a minimum 90% of work time dedicated to direct sales efforts. Professionalism: Manages expenses, represents the hotel and Sage with integrity. Maintains a service-focused, collaborative attitude across hotel departments and presents a neat, professional appearance. Qualifications Education/Formal Training Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent. Experience 4+ years of hotel sales experience. Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of general sales techniques, yield management, and customer service skills. Ability to hear, speak, read and write English fluently. Effective business writing skills; basic mathematics, spelling and reading skills. Dexterity/mobility to meet clients, tour property, attend functions, climb stairs, and operate basic office equipment. Vision to read fine print and computer screens; ability to observe rooms in low light.
