Job Description and Duties Under the general direction of a Chief Assistant Inspector General, the Deputy Inspector General, Senior,supervises Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) assigned to conduct reviews of closed California Departmentof Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) use-of-force investigation cases; conduct vettings of CDCR warden candidates and, as assigned, conduct special reviews of CDCR policies, practices, and procedures. The Deputy Inspector General, Senior, travels to CDCR prison, facilities, and offices and to Office of the Inspector General (OIG) regional offices and its headquarters in Sacramento, California, as required. Telework eligibility is pursuant to Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California. The designated Headquarters (HQ) for this position is in San Bernardino County, and the selected candidate will be required to commute to their HQ office location as needed to meet operational needs. Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate: * Training and experience in conducting investigations. * Training and experience in monitoring and assessing investigations, in particular internal staff misconduct investigations. * Experience in composing and editing public reports. * Experience in serving as a supervisor or as a team lead. * Experience in coordinating with supervisors or other team leaders in establishing the operations of a new team.
