Job Description

OverviewVice President Estimating role at Austin Bridge & Road is located at our corporate headquarters in Coppell, Texas. The VP of Estimating will provide leadership, management, and team development within the estimating department. This hands-on role includes leading robust client interaction, strategic project identification, developing highly collaborative business partnerships, and ensuring we submit high-quality estimates and proposals.ResponsibilitiesLead the estimating team to drive accountability toward innovative, competitive, and compliant estimates and proposals following robust estimating proceduresMaintain existing relationships and build new relationships within existing and potential clientsDevelop win strategies through engagement with estimate kickoff process and estimate review processLead the “RFP” process by developing fee proposals, team selection, and attending interviews as neededDelegate and assign estimates to the team while ensuring estimating team accountabilityEnsure all pending estimates are submitted thoroughly, completely, and on-time with high quality and fully compliant forms and submittalsEstablish estimating standards for all estimates and oversee analysis of past performance on estimatesAct as the estimating "subject matter expert" and identify areas of estimating improvements through observation or recommendations from the teamEngage throughout the preconstruction process as needed to ensure understanding of the project goals, client goals, and drive the estimate strategy throughout the estimating process and reviewCultivate and maintain strong partnerships with diverse subcontractors and vendorsOversee final subcontractor and vendor selections while applying prequalification standards and proceduresDevelop and maintain client, subcontractor, and other industry relationships at the appropriate level, reinforcing commitment to continuously address their needs and interestsActively participate in company-wide initiatives to further key company goalsEnsure profitable project budgets and oversee the estimate hand-off process between preconstruction and operationsPerform other duties as assignedRequirementsEducationBachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field. Proven experience may be substituted for a degree.Experience10+ years of preconstruction experience for a highway/heavy civil companyProven track record, strong leadership skills, and experience managing complex projects and estimates more than $100 MillionTransformational leader with demonstrated experienceDemonstrated experience as an innovatorExcellent communicator and an ambassador for the companyHas a thorough knowledge of building systems, current market pricing, and practical application of modern quantification and estimating techniques from conceptual and schematic design through final budgetsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlinesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriateAbility to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentialityAbility to act decisively and effectively in stressful situations with a sense of urgencyProficient with Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to lead, develop and manage staff, and positively motivate others to achieve resultsAbility to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and cross functional departmentsDemonstrated ability to make decisions based on sound business reasoningAbility to manage changing situations effectivelyApplicants must be legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States.
