OverviewJoin to apply for the Senior Retirement Consultant role at Mercer. This role is based anywhere Mercer has an office and is a hybrid role requiring at least three days in the office per week.As a Senior Defined Contribution Consultant, you will partner with Wealth colleagues and client managers to differentiate Mercer in the market. You will lead in selling and delivering non-investment related project work and retainer services. You will work with clients that sponsor large defined contribution plans (typically over $500 million in assets) by designing customized solutions to meet their strategic needs. You will bring leadership and expertise to both the local market and the broader national DC Consulting team, and participate in developing intellectual capital and mentoring junior consultants.ResponsibilitiesLead or participate in new business proposals to prospects and extend services to existing Mercer clients; developing new client relationships will be a focusServe as Mercer’s expert internally and in the marketplace on defined contribution plans for not-for-profit organizations and governmental agenciesSell, lead and deliver client projects involving plan design, recordkeeping vendor management, vendor search and fee benchmarking, committee governance, compliance reviews, and administration consultingAssist with expanding services to existing not-for-profit and governmental DC clients by maintaining ongoing relationships, identifying opportunities for expanded services, and supporting investment retainer clientsGuide and direct execution of long-term DC strategy; train staff to deliver services to large or jumbo clientsRoutinely use Mercer intellectual capital and contribute to DC intellectual capital for the USMentor junior staff to enhance technical knowledge and client-facing skills through regular project interactions and coachingParticipate in internal initiatives to support the growth of the DC Retirement businessStay current with the DC regulatory and legislative landscape and share insights with clients and internal staffWhat you need to haveBachelor’s degreeMinimum 10 years’ experience in benefits consulting with proven ability to sell and deliver Defined Contribution retirement consulting services to senior business leadersStrong to expert working knowledge of not-for-profit and governmental retirement plan design and operations, including nondiscrimination testing, compliance, plan administration and governance, and the DC vendor marketplaceExperience presenting to executive leadership at clientsExperience with private sector clients is a plusExperience in leading large projects, orchestrating multiple complex projects for large clientsProven project management skills and ability to manage client expectationsRisk identification and implementation of solutions for clientsTime managementProven sales resultsProven financial project managementWhat makes you stand outDeep subject matter and marketplace expertiseCreativity and ability to adapt to client needsExperienceWhy join our teamProfessional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leadersLeader in the Defined Contribution Consulting marketplace with a focus on servicing large, complex clientsInclusive culture and opportunities to create new solutions with colleagues, clients and communitiesMercer, a business of Marsh McLennan, is a global leader in helping clients realize their investment objectives, shape the future of work and enhance health and retirement outcomes. The base pay offered is determined by factors including experience, skills, location, and applicable minimum wage requirements. This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
