Title: Director – Energy Strategy & Large Load GrowthLocation: California (Hybrid; Remote considered for exceptional candidates)Compensation: $220,000 – $250,000 base + annual bonusWe’ve partnered with one of the fastest-growing public energy providers on an exclusive search with Piper Maddox. This is a first-of-its-kind role, created to shape strategy and engagement with large-load customers such as data centers — blending tariff and product design, market development, and cross-functional leadership.Key ResponsibilitiesLead strategic development and market assessments for large-load customersBuild and maintain competitive analyses, market intelligence, and rate/tariff structures to ensure offerings are both attractive and compliant.Partner with internal modeling and finance teams to standardize evaluation processes and customer offerings.Proactively engage with data centers and other strategic customers to anticipate needs and design responsive solutions.Represent the organization externally at conferences, industry events, and with regulators/policymakers.Work cross-functionally across operational, regulatory, finance, and strategy teams to align offerings and execution.Translate complex technical and financial inputs into clear, actionable products — including tariffs, customer offerings, and compliance playbooks.What You’ll Bring6–10+ years of experience in energy, utilities, consulting, or data centers, with exposure to tariff design, procurement, or regulatory affairs.Strong understanding of California energy markets (CPUC, CAISO, RA) and key cost drivers.Proven ability to deliver strategy, manage cross-functional projects, and negotiate contracts/commercial terms.Strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and executive communication skills.Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Energy, or related field (advanced degree preferred).Why This Role?This is a unique chance to shape how an innovative energy provider serves large-load customers.
