The state supported living centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. The centers provide campus-based direct services and supports at 13 centers located throughout the state. Learn About Our State Supported Living CentersResponsibilities (Essential Job Functions)The Unit Director performs highly complex managerial work administering and overseeing the daily operations, programming and activities of a cluster of homes at the designated State Supported Living Center (SSLC). Manages residential services to ensure active treatment, health, safety and personal goals; supervises direct service staff; coordinates services across disciplines; ensures compliance with best practices, settlement agreements, and laws; develops strategic plans and goals; responds to crisis situations; participates in meetings; and may work under limited supervision with latitude for initiative.Acts as Administrator on Duty in rotation and is on-call as needed. For unit models, oversees programming and treatment functions and supervises staff across disciplines; ensures staffing adequacy; conducts staffing and performance activities; and performs related duties.Attends and leads meetings, represents the homes in collaborations, and participates in fire, safety, quality improvement, and crisis management activities.Maintains quality and safety by ensuring approved policies, procedures, and plans are followed, training is provided, and documentation is accurate.Coordinates, implements and evaluates operational policies; ensures team readiness for audits and investigations; supports continuous quality improvement initiatives.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)Knowledge of Texas Administrative Code, HHSC policies, Settlement Agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice, and Life Safety Code.Knowledge of quality services for individuals with intellectual disabilities; knowledge of behavior support plans, skill acquisition plans, and psychiatric support plans.Ability to manage a large interdisciplinary team, develop and implement policies, and present information to management and external groups.Ability to analyze complex problems, implement solutions, manage crisis situations, and supervise staff with a focus on quality improvement and compliance.Proficiency with computers and standard software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint).Registrations, Licensure Requirements or CertificationsMust possess a valid Texas driver's license or obtain one within 90 days of hire. Applicants with out-of-state licenses must provide an original certified driving record.
