We’re powering the future – today!Job Posting End Date10-05-2025Please note the job posting will close on the day before the posting end dateJob DescriptionWhat You'll Do:Perform preventative/predictive maintenance on, troubleshoot, repair, install and operate various types of HVAC-related equipment, emergency generators, and general building mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in accordance with industry standards and mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building codes.Perform general building maintenance and repair related to drywall, masonry, painting, ceilings, roofing, tile, carpets, windows and other related items.Monitor the work of, communicate effectively with, and/or assist others, including contractors, engaged in maintenance, construction and operation activities. Ensure work is completed in compliance with contract terms and conditions and in accordance with company safety, security, environmental and conduct rules.Perform general housekeeping duties as required, such as assembling, moving, repairing, hanging and adjusting furniture, wall hangings, doors, windows and other office items; assist in snow removal, storm damage cleanup, lawn maintenance, spill cleanup, inventory management.Procure necessary quality parts and material in the most economical and accepted manner.Maintain records, including inspection documentation, and submit reports as required.What We're Looking ForEducation: High school diploma or GED required.Experience: Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Building Maintenance Technician B or at least three (3) years equivalent experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing or carpentry.Licenses/Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. Successful completion of the Construction and Skilled Trades test (CAST) is required.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Selected candidate must be willing to work nights and weekends.The ideal candidate will work a mid-shift (2pm-10pm hours).Interested candidates should complete pre-assessment within three days of applying to this opportunity.Electrician or HVAC license or CFC refrigerant certification preferred. Must be willing to pursue the certification.Overtime required. Overnight travel may be required. Scheduled as well as unscheduled, weekend and evening shift work may be required. Will be expected to respond to emergency call out work.Requires working indoors and outdoors in all weather.Possess excellent verbal, written, organizational, problem solving and communication skills.Ability to read, interpret, review, revise, and correct blueprints, drawings, schematics, specifications and instructions related to the assigned work.Requires the ability to utilize a computer.PHYSICAL DEMANDSPhysical Demands: Listed physical demands required for this job, but not limited to:Constant standing; frequent walking; occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, squatting, kneeling within AEP's 31-story corporate headquarters, located in downtown Columbus, Ohio.This position requires lifting, moving and carrying equipment up to and in excess of 50 lbs.Work at heights.What you’ll getIn addition to a competitive compensation, AEP offers a unique comprehensive benefits package that aims to support and enhance the overall well-being of our employees.#AEPCompensation DataCompensation Grade: SP20-005Compensation Range: $29.64-37.05 USDThe Physical Demand Level for this job is: M – Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
