You will work under limited supervision and alongside some of the world's most talented engineers. You will contribute to the development of Honeywell's next generation (product) by designing, testing and validating products/processes from prototype to market. You will be part of a group of highly committed professionals who provide expertise to ensure the success of complex engineering projects and programs while acting as a mentor to more junior engineers. You will interact with internal and external customers in order to facilitate the completion of products to customer specifications. A successful candidate will have a broad background in mechanical engineering and computer science, as well as the ability to work closely with electrical, materials, and manufacturing functions.ResponsibilitiesTechnical focal responsible for numeric evaluation of product design, integration, test and qualification activities for inertial navigation products for internal R&D and customer funded programsCalibration of inertial sensors and inertial systemsEvaluation of sensor & system performance - ex: reading and understanding Root Allan Variance (RAV)Lead trade studies and issue resolution activitiesPrepare, review, approve, and present technical documentation and deliverables to internal and external customersFunction as a technical focal with internal and external customers supporting new product development and communicating technical statusExecute in a cross-functional team setting (interfacing with IMU, mechanical, electrical, software, test, etc.)Manage internal and external stakeholders and their needsLead system design team meetings (SRR, PDR, TRR, CDR, FCA/PCA, TIMs) with internal and external customersLead customer flow-down requirement analysis, feasibility assessment, technical solution developmentLead system documents development, including but not limited to system-level requirements, Interface Control Document, Hardware Requirements Specification, Performance Verification Test Plan Procedure, Certification documentsProvide technical support and expertise to Customer Business Managers and Technical Sales Director during pursuit of new business to ensure product offerings align with customer requirementsLead proposal effort as a Principal System Engineer/SME, including development of BOEsPerform simulations, data analysis, define test procedures, and review results to determine compliance to requirementsQualificationsYou must have15+ years' professional experience15+ years' experience with inertial instruments (accelerometers, gyroscopes, and/or inertial measurement units)Must be a US CitizenWe valueMasters or PhDBachelor's Degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Systems EngineeringAbility to attain a security clearanceDemonstrated experience leading complex RCCADemonstrated experience with test system integration for high precision inertial sensorsDemonstrated experience with accelerometer requirements and associated qualification proceduresExperience with numerical data analysis, regression and curve fittingExperience with Matlab, Creo, SolidWorks, and/or MathCADAbility to consistently make timely decisions while balancing riskFamiliar with Six Sigma Methods, with Black Belt training preferredAbility to influence cross-functional teams to deliver optimal solutionsAbility to consistently make timely decisions and balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness in an ambiguous environmentClearly and concisely convey subtle or complex messages to a variety of audiencesDemonstrated experience interacting with external (prime) customersDemonstrated experience leading teams thru PDR, CDR, and/or QDRExperience with EVMSAbout UsHoneywell helps organizations solve the world's most complex challenges in automation, the future of aviation and energy transition.
